The iPhone 5C has had a bad reputation amongst Apple fans as being a failure, but the truth is far from that. The phone is nearly 2 years old and over that time has been consistently one of the best selling phones on the market since launch coming consistently second just behind the 5S within its first year of going on sale, out performing many flagship Android devices.
What I always liked was right in line with hat Jony Ive announced the phone to be, and that is “unapologetically plastic” This almost overly brash and flamboyant plastic shell instead of feeling cheap and tacky is instead comfortable, solid and reassuring. Rather than a simple homage to the old 3G which was the last plastic iPhone, instead with the bright vibrant colours I always felt the 5C was more akin to the older style iPod. Never a bad thing.
Following on from all this the 6C was expected and earlier this week potentially the first real leaks of what the outer shell could consist of have leaked. The first two things that are apparent is that once again we have a plastic wrap around shell, and that the bright vibrant colours have returned. Disappointingly it appears that the colours remain the same with no alterations such as Orange, Purple and a Lime colour that have been anticipated by numerous users. Also a White face to the phone had also been on the wish list of many but if these images are accurate then that will not be an option.
The changes come in the form of altered speaker holes, reducing the size of each hold but adding double the amount. The change to sound should be minimal however this will help reduce dirt and debris entering the phone.
Still on the wish list is of course Touch ID and an improved camera. On this note the next and last real change is visible in the provided pictures, that the pill shaped flash of the 5S has returned, leading many to believe that the 6C will contain the internals form the 5S. Unlike the 5C which had the internals from the outgoing 5 but were improved significantly for a lower tier device, the 6C should follow the same route but could be more of a hybrid between a 5S and 6 exchanging some components within the new structure for performance and reliability. The camera is likely to have better focus detection along with slow mo and time lapse functionality.
Currently unconfirmed but I am also expecting improved WIFI and LTE connectivity along with and GPU setup that puts it above the 5S and closer to the 6. Of course as with all potential leaks, this could be a fake but the season in the run up to WWDC has started and so has the countdown to the next iPhone, so as these leaks and reveals continue over the coming months I shall be sure to cover them all here.
